Getting a Squarespace site cited by AI

The one real limit is robots.txt, which Squarespace manages for you. Everything else on the report is reachable.
What you can change here

The five things a report asks for, and where each lives

Checked 2026-09-14. Platforms change what they expose; if one of these is out of date, it is out of date visibly rather than quietly.

  • Page titles & meta descriptionsYes

The SEO tab in each page's settings.

  • JSON-LD schemaPartly

Code injection, in the site header or a single page's header. It needs a plan with code injection (not the entry tier) — without it you cannot add schema at all.

  • robots.txtNo

Squarespace generates and serves it; there is no editor. You cannot allow or block an AI crawler by hand.

  • A plain-text file like /llms.txtNo

    No arbitrary root paths.

  • New pages (FAQ, comparison, use case)Yes

    The normal page editor.

You cannot edit robots.txt, so check what it already says

This matters in both directions. You cannot block an AI crawler you dislike, and you cannot unblock one either — so if a rule is keeping an engine out, no amount of new content will fix it. Run the AI crawler checker before you write anything, and if an engine is blocked, that finding goes to Squarespace support rather than onto your to-do list.

Why there is no writer for this platform

No Squarespace writer is planned. The report tells you which panel each change lives in.

Either way the report splits its actions into two columns: what we publish for you and what only you can do — claiming a directory profile, fixing a Google Business listing, answering the questions a page has been avoiding. The second column has checkboxes, because a re-test run before you have done those is a re-test measuring nothing.

Where to start on Squarespace

None of this needs an account with us. The AI crawler checker and the Website metadata checker answer the technical questions in about a minute.

  1. 01

    Check the live robots.txt first

It is the one item on a Squarespace report you cannot act on, so find out early whether it is even a problem.

  2. 02

Confirm your plan includes code injection

If it does not, schema is off the table and the report's content actions carry the whole result.

  3. 03

Write the comparison page as its own page

Squarespace's page editor is fine for this. The report names the questions it should answer.
